A steep block reshaped into a usable outdoor zone with retaining walls and a golf-ready putting green.
Damon and Tracey wanted a putting green they could actually use, but their backyard had a heavy slope and very little functional flat space. The level changes made the yard hard to maintain and impossible to enjoy properly.
The key challenge was reshaping the block so it felt open and practical while still handling drainage and long-term structural support. This was not a cosmetic tidy-up, it needed proper civil-style groundwork first.
Dan's team excavated multiple truckloads of soil to cut the slope back and establish a stable, usable layout. With levels corrected, we constructed a new sleeper retaining wall system to hold the grade and define each zone properly.
From there, we installed a purpose-built synthetic putting green shaped for real play, with clean edge detailing and practical transitions into the rest of the yard so the space still works as an everyday family backyard.
The result is a complete backyard turnaround. What was once a difficult, sloped site is now a clean and usable outdoor area with a standout putting green at the centre. Damon and Tracey can entertain, relax, and get a few putts in without the maintenance stress.
"The block was so sloped we thought we'd never get it right. Dan moved a huge amount of earth, built the retaining properly, and gave us a putting green that came up a treat."
