Hampton Pool Surround & Paving

The Challenge

Cam and Leah had a pool — but no real backyard to speak of. The surrounding area was bare concrete and overgrown lawn. They'd tried to DIY their way out of it over the years without success and decided it was time to get someone who actually knew what they were doing.

The challenge: a tight rectangular site around an older fibreglass pool, with very limited machine access from the side of the house. Everything had to flow properly from the entertaining deck down to the poolside level.

Our Approach

Dan visited the site, listened carefully to what Cam and Leah had in mind — clean, low-maintenance, classic coastal — and took the time to walk through material options. Non-slip surfaces around the pool were non-negotiable for safety. The choice came down to a natural limestone coping with drop-face edge detail, complemented by dressed bluestone pavers for the main entertaining area.

All excavation and levelling was done by Dan's crew with a compact machine brought through the side passage. Every paver was cut and laid by hand. The pool coping was mitred at each corner for a clean seamless look.

The Result

A complete transformation. What was a neglected, barely-used backyard is now the centrepiece of Cam and Leah's home. The limestone-to-bluestone palette gives it a timeless Hamptons-style feel that suits the suburb perfectly.
